Indiana Fever Announces New Head Coach
Christie Sides to Lead Team into Next Chapter
INDIANAPOLIS, IN - The Indiana Fever have announced the hiring of Christie Sides as their new head coach. Sides, who has spent the past three seasons as an assistant coach with the Las Vegas Aces, will be tasked with leading the Fever back to contention after a disappointing 2023 campaign.
"We are thrilled to welcome Christie to the Fever family," said Fever president and general manager Tamika Catchings. "She is a rising star in the coaching ranks and has a proven track record of success. We believe she is the right person to lead our team to the next level."
Sides is a former WNBA player who spent 12 seasons in the league. She was a two-time All-Star and helped the Aces reach the WNBA Finals in 2022. As an assistant coach with the Aces, she helped develop some of the league's top young players, including A'ja Wilson and Jackie Young.
"I am honored and excited to be the next head coach of the Indiana Fever," said Sides. "This is a great organization with a rich history, and I am eager to get started. I believe that we have the pieces in place to be a championship contender, and I am confident that we can bring a title back to Indianapolis."
Sides will be introduced to the media at a press conference on Wednesday, January 11th. She will begin her duties with the Fever immediately.
