Boston Marathon Official Charity Fundraising Requirements
Raising Funds for a Good Cause
Each athlete who participates in the Boston Marathon on behalf of one of the event's Official Charities is expected to contribute to the organization's fundraising efforts. By joining an Official Charity, runners can raise funds for a cause close to their hearts while also enjoying the satisfaction of supporting a worthy organization.
Fundraising Minimums
The Boston Athletic Association (BAA) has established fundraising minimums for runners participating in the marathon through an Official Charity. The minimums vary depending on the charity and the runner's fundraising goals:
- Qualified Runners: $2,500
- Big Sister Association of Greater Boston Marathon Team: $10,000
Runners are responsible for meeting the fundraising minimum for the charity they choose to represent. The BAA encourages runners to set ambitious fundraising goals and exceed the minimum requirements to maximize their impact.
Support for Fundraisers
Official Charities provide runners with various resources and support to assist in their fundraising efforts. This support may include:
- Personalized fundraising pages
- Online fundraising tools
- Marketing materials
- Training and guidance from experienced fundraisers
These resources help runners connect with potential donors, promote their fundraising campaigns, and effectively raise funds for their chosen charity.
